Church Library Ministry
Church Library Project Report
• The children’s book section has been completed. The number of books have been decreased. I took books to the ABC Thrift Store, and a worker’s daughter was visiting from a western state (unfortunately I did not ask her name). The daughter’s church was just starting a library and the books were donated to her church library.
• The small closet outside of the main room (where Boy Scouts items were stored) has been cleared.
• Should the flags be cleaned and exhibited? There are some items I wonder if they should be discarded.
• I would like to move the boxes of photos and photo albums to a room that is dry and appropriate for storage until a display case is obtained. I have spoken with Lorraine Young and she will be asking the Historical Society if photo bins/stands would be donated to Messiah Lutheran Church since they are no longer being used at the Cultural Center.
• I currently am attempting to locate a business or person to provide an estimate for the closets at the back of the sanctuary to be converted to two show cases for artifacts and historical items of the two churches, including historical books, located on display in that location.
• The book exchange has been removed from the church.
• I would like to decrease the number of children’s books in the case along the outside wall.
• The stacks of books sitting on the counters and on the library shelves have been removed. It appeared they were books people donated freely to the church.
• I still need to spend time in the church office and also the crawl space located next to the elevator. I would like to locate the council notes regarding the process for the merger again in the office file cabinets and include them with the artifacts. Hopefully someone can scan them for backup preservation.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dianne M. Heapy
