Visioning for the Future with Pastor Ron Hanson - June 22nd
Messiah's first Pastor, Ron Hanson met with Messiah Church Council and interested members to talk about Messiah's next 40 years.
June 23rd Anniversary Service and Picnic in the Park (Well, almost in the Park)
The second special Messiah 40th Anniversary Service took place on June 23rd. Messiah's first Pastor, Rev. Ron Hanson delivered the sermon bringing back many memories of the early days at Messiah. He compared the early days to teaching a young child to swing on a swing set. The swing goes backward then forward. Without going backward occasionally you can't go forward. That was his experience at Messiah. He spoke of occasional setbacks but Messiah always seemed to move forward time and time again. Pastor Keith Anderson also shared some of his Messiah memories. Keith was an Intern at Messiah from 1982 to 1983. He said that year was one of the best of his life and that he will always have very fond memories of his time at Messiah.
The service was followed by the Annual Chicken Dinner in the Park. Because of the bad weather all weekend, a decision was made to move the picnic to the church. Over 100 people enjoyed the wonderful grilled chicken and the excellent dishes donated by members and friends. The Scandinavian treats prepared the day before were a big hit. The next Anniversary events will be in August. |
